Al-Dameer: A New Massacre in Mawasi Khan Younis Targets Displaced People’s Tents Amid the International Community’s Disturbing Silence on the Occupation’s Crimes.
Al-Dameer Association for Human Rights – Gaza reports that Israeli occupation forces committed a new massacre against Palestinian civilians in the Mawasi Khan Younis area near the Othman Bin Affan Mosque, behind the British field hospital. On the morning of Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Israeli warplanes launched five missiles directly at tents made of fabric and wood that housed displaced persons, according to health sources. This military assault resulted in the deaths of more than 40 Palestinians, including 15 children and 10 women, and injured over 60 civilians. Some of the victims were found buried beneath the sand in craters as deep as nine meters, caused by the missiles.
It is noteworthy that the Israeli occupation had previously designated these targeted areas as safe and humanitarian zones, advising Palestinian civilians to relocate there for their safety. However, the occupation forces pursued and attacked them even in these supposed safe zones, underscoring the reality that there is no safe place in the Gaza Strip.
Al-Dameer Association for Human Rights views the increasing massacres by Israeli occupation forces as a direct result of the international community’s silence and failure to hold Israel accountable for its crimes. Therefore, Al-Dameer calls on the international community to break its disturbing silence exert pressure on the occupation to cease its aggression and acts of genocide against the Gaza Strip, and establish an independent international investigative committee to probe this crime. Furthermore, Al-Dameer urges the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court to issue arrest warrants for Israeli leaders and pursue their prosecution for their ongoing crimes against Palestinian civilians.
