Al-Dameer: Organizes an awareness-raising meeting on children’s rights for representatives of displacement camps in Mawasi Khan Yunis.

Al-Dameer Association for Human Rights – Gaza, organized on Thursday, December 26, 2024, an awareness meeting on “children’s rights” according to the International Convention on the Rights of the Child of 1990, for a number of representatives of displacement camps in the Mawasi Khan Yunis area, with the participation of 14 camp representatives, to raise their awareness of the rights of the child included in the convention and the position of the State of Palestine, and to enhance their capacity and knowledge about children’s rights from an international perspective according to national law and to familiarize them with the concept of the child and how to implement children’s rights, especially children who have lost their father and mother, and their ability to document complaints related to children’s rights.

These sessions come within a series of awareness sessions implemented by Al-Dameer Association according to its strategic and emergency plan that supports the rights of the Palestinian child during armed conflict and their ability to address the humanitarian needs of children in the Gaza Strip.

The sessions included a series of activities that achieved their objectives by raising participants’ awareness of children’s rights and their protection, as well as familiarizing them with the basic principles outlined in the International Convention on the Rights of the Child. Additionally, participants called for more awareness sessions targeting camp administrators and representatives, especially in light of the ongoing genocide and the children’s need for assistance.
