Al Dameer Organizes an Awareness Workshop Entitled “Women’s Access to Protection Services in Displacement Camps”
Al Dameer Association for Human Rights – Gaza organized an awareness workshop yesterday, Monday, 8 June 2026, entitled “Women’s Access to Protection Services in Displacement Camps” at Al-Mina Palace Camp (1), west of Gaza City. The workshop was attended by 28 displaced women residing in the camp.
The workshop was opened by Al Dameer’s field researcher, Mr. Fadi Ghneima, who welcomed the participants and provided an overview of Al Dameer Association for Human Rights and its various programs. He highlighted the organization’s efforts during the ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip, as well as the legal, human rights, and awareness-raising services it provides to displaced persons, particularly women residing in displacement camps. He also addressed the challenges faced by women, including violations of privacy, limited awareness of available protection mechanisms, and the risks of exploitation and gender-based violence, including sexual exploitation linked to the provision of humanitarian assistance.
For her part, Lawyer Asmaa Al-Daabla delivered a detailed presentation on women’s rights to safe and equitable access to protection services within displacement camps. She also discussed mechanisms for preventing sexual exploitation and abuse, the procedures that should be followed, and safe reporting channels available to women and girls who may experience any form of exploitation by service providers or others.
Al-Daabla emphasized that humanitarian assistance—whether material, legal, psychosocial, or awareness-based—must be provided free of charge and without discrimination or exploitation. She stressed that women have the right to access such assistance with dignity and safety, in accordance with the principles of International Humanitarian Law and relevant humanitarian standards.
This workshop forms part of Al Dameer’s ongoing efforts to enhance awareness of the rights of women and girls in displacement camps, empower them to access protection services and report violations, and contribute to creating a safer and more protective environment amid the severe humanitarian conditions facing the Gaza Strip.
