Al-Dameer: UN Commission of Inquiry Report Confirms that Israeli Occupation Forces Continue Committing Genocide Through the Deliberate Targeting of Palestinian Children

Al-Dameer Association for Human Rights welcomes the new report issued by the United Nations Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, released on 23 June 2026. The Commission, which concluded last year that Israeli occupation forces had committed genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, found that Israeli military operations have continued on a widespread and systematic scale, resulting in unprecedented levels of death, injury, and psychological trauma among Palestinian children.

The Commission reaffirmed that the deliberate targeting of children constitutes a central element in demonstrating the genocidal intent of Israeli authorities and security forces to destroy, in whole or in part, the Palestinian people in Gaza.

Al-Dameer emphasizes that the findings contained in this report represent an important legal and international documentation of the suffering endured by Palestinian children, who have paid an unbearable price as a result of ongoing military operations. Thousands of children have been killed, injured, permanently disabled, and deprived of their most basic rights and protections guaranteed under international law.

Al-Dameer considers the report to be an official acknowledgment by the United Nations that the crime of genocide has been committed in the Gaza Strip. It significantly strengthens efforts aimed at accountability and legal prosecution, while providing United Nations mechanisms and international justice institutions with independent and credible evidence regarding Israel’s commission of genocide. The organization stresses that the publication of this report, alongside previous findings, must not remain without concrete and effective action. Failure to take meaningful steps risks further entrenching the longstanding culture of impunity enjoyed by Israeli occupation forces.

Al-Dameer further notes that this report is the result of extensive documentation, monitoring, legal submissions, and advocacy efforts carried out by Palestinian human rights organizations, which have consistently provided evidence and communications to United Nations bodies and Special Rapporteurs. These efforts have contributed to advancing international recognition of crimes that require thorough investigation, accountability, and justice.

Accordingly, Al-Dameer Association for Human Rights calls upon the international community to uphold its legal and moral responsibilities toward the Palestinian people by exerting effective pressure on Israel to immediately halt the ongoing genocide being perpetrated against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. The organization also urges the continuation of independent investigations into all serious violations of international law and calls for those responsible for international crimes to be brought before the International Criminal Court and other competent judicial mechanisms.
