Aldameer: 32 Released Detainees Deported to Gaza Have Been Assassinated by the Israeli Occupation
Aldameer Association for Human Rights – Gaza: The Israeli occupation forces continue their systematic policy targeting detainees, released prisoners, and those deported to the Gaza Strip who were released under the Wafa Al-Ahrar Deal (Shalit Deal) in 2011, most of whom are residents of the West Bank and Jerusalem, by physically eliminating them.
According to the information available to Aldameer Association for Human Rights, the Israeli occupation forces have targeted and assassinated 32 detainees released under the (Shalit) Deal since 7 October 2023. The most recent was the assassination of the martyr/ Faraj Ahmad Hamed, 43, from Salwad area east of Ramallah in the West Bank, who was released under what is known as the “Wafa Al-Ahrar” Deal, yesterday, Wednesday, 9/9/2026, following the bombing of a motorcycle west of southern Gaza City, at Al-Nabulsi Roundabout on Al-Rashid Street.
Aldameer Association confirms that the direct targeting of released detainees has been carried out systematically since the beginning of the genocidal war on Gaza, with the aim of physically eliminating them, through deliberately assassinating them and disregarding all provisions of prisoner exchange agreements.
Aldameer Association considers the assassination of released prisoners a war crime and a disregard for all international agreements and conventions that guarantee their right to life. These practices also constitute a direct violation of, and denial of, the principle of due protection in accordance with the agreement for their release. Accordingly, Aldameer Association for Human Rights calls on the international community and the parties sponsoring and guaranteeing the agreement for their release to intervene immediately and seriously to protect the detainees and released prisoners under the exchange deals, and not to treat these incidents as isolated events within the framework of the genocidal war.
