Al-Dameer: 109 Palestinians Killed During May, Including 29 During Eid al-Adha; Among the Victims Were 13 Children, 10 Women, a Doctor, a Fisherman, and 10 Members of the Civil Police
Al-Dameer Association for Human Rights – Gaza states that the Israeli occupying forces continue to perpetrate crimes against the civilian population in the Gaza Strip as part of the ongoing genocide. According to Al-Dameer’s monitoring and documentation, 109 Palestinians were killed during May, including 13 children, 10 women, 10 members of the civil police, one doctor, and one fisherman who was killed at sea.
The documented patterns of attacks were as follows:
- 44 civilians, including 2 children and 1 woman, were killed in drone strikes carried out outside areas where Israeli forces were deployed.
- 25 civilians, including 6 children and 6 women, were killed as a result of attacks on residential homes without prior warning.
- 8 civilians, including 2 members of the civil police, were killed in attacks targeting civilian vehicles.
- 1 fisherman was killed when a fishing boat was targeted at sea.
- Attacks on police/security posts resulted in the killing of 8 persons, including 1 child and 1 doctor who happened to be passing by.
- 18 civilians, including 2 children and 1 woman, were killed by live fire in areas designated as “yellow zones.”
- 1 civilian was killed following the collapse of a house that had previously been targeted during the war.
- Attacks on tent shelters housing displaced persons resulted in the killing of 3 civilians, including 2 children and 1 woman.
- The targeting of a community kitchen (food distribution center) resulted in the killing of 2 administrative staff members.
According to data issued by the Palestinian Ministry of Health, these violations have resulted in the killing of 929 Palestinians and the injury of 2,811 others since the ceasefire entered into force.
Al-Dameer emphasizes that these violations, which constitute grave breaches of international humanitarian law, are not isolated incidents. Rather, they form part of a systematic policy pursued by the Israeli occupying forces aimed at undermining the lives of civilians in the Gaza Strip and destroying the conditions necessary for their survival.
The organization further stresses that these violations reflect a dangerous pattern of excessive and unlawful use of force, amounting to war crimes and crimes against humanity. Such crimes require urgent international action to halt these violations, provide immediate protection to civilians, and ensure accountability and an end to impunity.
